Yesss!!! 2022 is absolutely the year of the bee and so 2023 is. Every year on May 20th, Bee Day is celebrated. The objective of World Bee Day 2022 is to recognise the importance of pollinators like bees to the ecosystem. Every year on this day, the world’s attention is drawn to the importance of honey bees and other pollinators.
We’ve been commemorating World Bee Day since 2018, thanks to the efforts of the Slovenian government and Apimondia, which pushed the United Nations General Assembly to establish May 20 as World Bee Day. The day Anton Jana, a pioneer of modern apiculture, was born was chosen as the occasion for this commemoration.
Following three years of worldwide efforts, the United Nations Member States unanimously adopted a request by Slovenia to declare May 20 as World Bee Day on December 20, 2017.
May was chosen as the month for World Bee Day 2022, like every year, because pollination needs are highest in the northern hemisphere during this time, while honey and bee products are harvested in the southern hemisphere.
On September 15th, 2014, the concept of World Bee Day was born. Bostjan Noc, president of the Slovenian Beekeepers Association, was driving to work and listening to a radio talk show about World Days and their significance when he asked why bees didn’t have their own day. Given that bees and other pollinators are responsible for one-third of the world’s food, and that bees are becoming increasingly endangered and nearly unable to survive without human assistance and support, it seemed only appropriate that the general public be made aware.
Why is there a World Bee Day?
Now we are getting into the real question. Why do we celebrate World Bee Day and what is the purpose of World Bee Day 2022?
Each year on this day, the world’s attention is drawn to the significance of honey bees and other pollinators. People will be educated about the importance of bees in meeting humanity’s needs.
World Bee Day 2022 is a day dedicated to educating the community about the benefits of bees and what bees do for the planet, such as how they help grow 90 percent of the world’s largest wildflower plants, 35 percent of the world’s crops, and how they help establish ecosystems all around the world. With these figures in hand, the United Nations has launched a number of projects around the world to raise awareness about bee protection and what you can do to help.
Other pollinators, such as bats, hummingbirds, and butterflies, are also welcome on this day. These important animals work together to sustain ecosystem health and biodiversity. Bees and other animals also assist us in combating global issues such as world hunger and disaster relief.
If the bee disappears from the surface of the Earth, man will have no more than four years left to live.
Bees are a crucial element of the natural world, but humans sometimes overlook them. Perhaps it’s because we underestimate their significance?
Simply said, bees pollinate our plants by carrying pollen between plants of different sexes in order to fertilise them, and even between different portions of the same plant in order to aid reproduction. Bees even aid in the survival of plants by preventing inbreeding.
Bees perform an important role in the ecology through pollination. They encourage the growth of forests, wildflowers, and other vegetation that provide food or shelter for both large and small animals. Bees play an important role in complicated, interrelated habitats that enable a range of species to survive.
Bees are one of the world’s busiest creatures. A single honeybee will visit approximately 7,000 flowers every day. One kilogramme of honey necessitates four million flower visits.
On May 20, the globe celebrates World Bee Day 2022 and in the future as well, to raise awareness about the importance of pollinators and how they contribute to our long-term sustainability. Human activities, on the other hand, are progressively endangering bees and other pollinators like butterflies, bats, and hummingbirds.
Pollination is an important process for the survival of our ecosystems. It is the most important agricultural contribution to global yields, considerably outnumbering any other agricultural management method. The great majority of pollinators, including over 20,000 species of bees, are found in the wild.
Every year, the United Nations declares a theme as part of World Bee Day celebrations. The theme would be pertinent to recent events that have occurred this year. This subject would be the basis for all of the year’s activities and programming.
‘Bee involved—Build back better for bees’
The theme of World Bee Day 2022 is theme calls for a better future for bees, including pollinator and bee protection.
As I told you above, World Bee Day is a day of awareness. It is an endeavour to raise public awareness about what is happening to our environment as a result of our irresponsibility. Bees and pollinators are microscopic insects that serve an important role in our ecology, but did you realise that their presence is unavoidable? Each day, a single bee colony can pollinate 300 million flowers. Pollination by bees is responsible for one-third of the food we eat every day.
Here I am mentioning some World Bee Day Activity Plans to Educate Your Children to Protect Nature’s Most Valuable Pollinator.
- Outdoor Lessons to Remove the Sting from Perceptions
Many people are afraid of bees as they believe they may be stung if they come too close. This fear has a negative impact on the call to action that is required to save this helpful bug. Assimilation must happen at a young age so that children learn to respect rather than fear bees.
- Visit an Apiary
This suggestion appears frequently in our continuous listings of outdoor active learning, but bee farms are worth repeating. A trip to a local apiary will give your kids an expert-led tour and an inside look at just how bees are looked for and eventually do the excellent work they do.
- Start a Pollinator Garden
Building a sustainable home for bees is a fascinating experience for them while also directly helping to rescue them.
- Beeswax Crafts
When coupled with mould and colour, honey bee output is nature’s Play-Doh and can be utilised by imaginative young minds to make figures, ornaments, and scented crayons. There’s more, though. Beeswax can also be used to manufacture candles, lip balm, lip gloss, moisturisers, moustache wax, hair emollients, footwear, upholstery polish, or even surfboard shellac as a whole rather than as a component.
Every year on World Bee Day, their distinctive logo designs become more appealing, and the same will occur in 2022.
Have you thought about getting these logos printed on your World Bee Day 2022 costume?
If not, let me show you some great and creative bee designs.
The answer is “two trillion”! Let me tell you about some of the types of bees:
Bees are classified into seven biological families with about 16,000 species. Some species, such as honey bees, bumblebees, and stingless bees, live in colonies, although the majority (over 90 percent) of species, such as mason bees, carpenter bees, leafcutter bees, and sweat bees, live alone.
Why don’t we start raising awareness about bees and World Bee Day 2022, as bees help us to make our surroundings more eco-friendly? We should tell our friends and wear bee digital embroidery to spread the word about how beneficial and lovely bees are.
